Ingredients
Scale
Sautéed Mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound sliced baby bella mushrooms (or sliced white button mushrooms)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- ¼ cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Burgers
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns (recommended: brioche buns)
Instructions
- Sauteed Mushrooms: Add the butter and olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat on the stove. Once the butter is melted, add the sliced mushrooms and Worcestershire sauce. Stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes without stirring to allow the mushrooms to brown nicely.
- After 5 minutes, pour in the beef broth into the skillet and let it cook down, evaporating most of the liquid. This process should take approximately 8-10 minutes, concentrating the mushroom flavors.
- Once the broth has mostly evaporated, add the minced garlic and black pepper to the skillet. Cook the mushrooms for an additional 3-4 minutes to infuse the garlic and seasoning. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Burgers: In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with steak seasoning and Worcestershire sauce evenly. Form the mixture into four 4-ounce patties, ensuring they are uniform for even cooking.
- Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
- Place the burger patties on the hot grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side to achieve a medium doneness. During the last 1-2 minutes of grilling, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns on the grill while the cheese is melting on the burgers to add a slight crispness and warmth.
- Remove the burgers from the grill and rest them on a cutting board for 3-5 minutes. This resting time helps the juices redistribute for a juicier burger.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a toasted bun, topping with the sautéed mushrooms, and adding any other desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, or condiments.
Notes
- You can substitute baby bella mushrooms with white button mushrooms if preferred.
- For extra flavor, experiment with adding caramelized onions or crispy bacon as additional toppings.
- Adjust the level of seasoning in the burger patties according to your taste preference.
- Resting the burgers before serving is crucial to keep them juicy and flavorful.
- Brioche buns are recommended for their slight sweetness and soft texture, but any sturdy bun works well.
