Description

This Indulgent Burnt Basque Cheesecake offers a rich, creamy texture with a signature caramelized top. It features a smooth cream cheese base, baked to perfection in a loaf pan, and served with whipped cream, fresh berries, and a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra decadence.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Base

  • 16 oz Full-Fat Cream Cheese (Room temperature)
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs (At room temperature)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt

For Serving

  • 1 cup Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup Fresh Berries
  • 1/2 cup Caramel Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for baking the cheesecake.
  2. Prepare the Loaf Pan: Line the loaf pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to help remove the cheesecake easily after baking.
  3. Blend the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Add Eggs: Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing gently after each addition to maintain a smooth batter without overmixing.
  5. Pour in the Heavy Cream: Gradually add the heavy cream while mixing on low speed to combine evenly without incorporating too much air.
  6. Fold in Flour and Salt: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and salt until just combined, ensuring the batter remains light and smooth.
  7. Transfer to Pan: Pour the cheesecake mixture into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake: Bake for 50 to 60 minutes until the top is a deep dark brown (almost burnt) and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool & Serve: Allow the cheesecake to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving. Garnish with whipped cream, fresh berries, and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure all dairy ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
  • The burnt top is characteristic of the Basque cheesecake and adds a caramelized flavor.
  • Use a toothpick test to avoid overbaking—slightly soft center is ideal.
  • Refrigerate adequately for best texture and flavor.
  • Serve chilled with whipped cream, fresh berries, and caramel sauce for a luxurious finish.
