Description

Honey Garlic Salmon Bites offer a delicious and easy-to-make main course featuring tender salmon cubes glazed in a flavorful honey garlic sauce with hints of ginger, soy, and sesame. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this Asian-inspired recipe delivers a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors with a delightful glaze and light spice.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon fillets, skin removed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon cubes dry thoroughly with paper towels to ensure a good sear. Season evenly with salt and black pepper. Toss the seasoned salmon gently with cornstarch until all sides are lightly coated to help achieve a crispy texture.
  2. Cook the salmon: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon cubes in a single layer and cook without stirring for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side another 2 to 3 minutes until cooked through. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic and grated ginger to the same skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not burnt. Stir in honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes if using, and sesame oil. Let the mixture simmer gently for 2 to 3 minutes to slightly thicken and develop flavors.
  4. Glaze the salmon: Return the cooked salmon bites to the skillet with the sauce. Gently toss to coat all pieces well in the glaze. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes so the salmon absorbs the flavors and gets a beautiful glossy finish.
  5. Serve and garnish: Remove skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds over the salmon bites. Serve immediately, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a wholesome meal.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can air fry the salmon cubes at 400°F for 6 to 8 minutes before tossing them in the sauce.
  • Serve this dish over steamed rice or your favorite noodles for a complete meal.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
