Description

These Gourmet BLT Wraps elevate the classic bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich into a delicious and satisfying wrap. Made with low-carb wraps, crispy bacon, juicy beefsteak tomatoes, fresh shredded lettuce, and a tangy secret sauce of mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, and olive oil, this recipe offers a fresh twist that’s perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Wraps and Vegetables

  • 4 low-carb wraps
  • 3 large beefsteak tomatoes, cut into thick slices
  • 3/4 cup lettuce, shredded (or whole leaves)

Bacon

  • 12 bacon strips

Secret Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the 12 bacon strips until they are crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove them from the skillet, drain on paper towels, and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Secret Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, and 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until smooth and emulsified.
  3. Prepare the Vegetables: Rinse and dry the lettuce, then shred if using whole leaves. Slice the beefsteak tomatoes into thick slices suitable for the wraps.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Lay out each low-carb wrap flat on a clean surface. Spread a generous amount of the secret sauce evenly across each wrap. Layer with shredded lettuce, 3 slices of tomato, and 3 crispy bacon strips per wrap.
  5. Wrap and Serve: Fold the sides of the wrap inwards and then roll tightly from one end to the other, securing the ingredients inside. Slice each wrap diagonally for easy eating and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For crispier bacon, bake in the oven at 400°F (200°C) on a wire rack for 15-20 minutes.
  • Low-carb wraps can be substituted with whole wheat or spinach wraps for a different flavor.
  • The secret sauce can be adjusted by adding a teaspoon of Dijon mustard for extra tang.
  • Wraps are best enjoyed fresh but can be wrapped tightly in foil and refrigerated for up to one day.
  • To keep lettuce crisp, pat dry thoroughly to prevent sogginess in the wrap.
