Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 package Refrigerated Pizza Dough (or homemade dough)
Filling
- 1 cup Pizza Sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 0.5 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 0.5 cup Pepperoni, sliced
- 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder (or fresh minced garlic)
Topping
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the pizza dough package, typically to 375°F (190°C) to 400°F (204°C), ensuring it’s hot enough for baking the poppers to golden perfection.
- Roll Out Dough: Lightly flour your work surface and roll the refrigerated pizza dough into a rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick, making sure it’s even for uniform cooking.
- Spread Sauce: Evenly spread the pizza sauce over the rolled dough, leaving about a half-inch border along the edges to prevent sauce from spilling out during rolling.
- Add Cheeses and Toppings: Generously sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce, then add sliced pepperoni. Sprinkle dried oregano and garlic powder evenly on top to add flavor.
- Add Optional Toppings: If desired, add other toppings such as sliced bell peppers or cooked sausage to customize your pizza poppers.
- Roll Dough into Log: Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll the dough into a log shape, pressing gently to seal the edges and keep the filling inside.
- Slice the Log: Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled dough log into 1-inch thick pieces to create individual poppers.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Arrange the pizza poppers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased to prevent sticking, spacing them slightly apart.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the tops of the pizza poppers with olive oil. This helps them brown nicely and adds a subtle rich flavor.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the poppers are golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the poppers from the oven and let them cool slightly for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns and help the filling set.
Notes
- You can substitute pepperoni with other cured meats or keep it vegetarian by adding more veggies like olives or mushrooms.
- Make sure to seal the dough roll tightly to prevent filling from leaking during baking.
- Serve with extra pizza sauce or marinara on the side for dipping.
- These poppers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer for a quick snack later.
