Ingredients
Scale
Wonton Shells
- 12 wonton wrappers
- Cooking spray
Chicken Filling
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable Toppings
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- ¼ cup chopped green onions
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
Sauces and Garnishes
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- ½ teaspoon honey
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken Filling: In a bowl, combine the diced chicken breasts with soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly with the marinade.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the marinated chicken pieces until they are fully cooked through and slightly browned, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Wonton Shells: Lightly spray both sides of the wonton wrappers with cooking spray. Place the wrappers into a well-greased muffin tin or a similar mold to form taco shells. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crisp. Remove and let cool.
- Mix the Sauce and Assemble the Tacos: In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, lime juice, and honey to create a creamy honey lime sauce. To assemble, fill the crispy wonton taco shells with cooked chicken, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, chopped green onions, and cilantro. Drizzle with the honey lime sauce, add a spoonful of sweet chili sauce on top, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, press wonton wrappers firmly into the molds and ensure even coating of cooking spray.
- Feel free to swap chicken for shrimp or tofu for a variation.
- Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce to your level of sweetness and spice preference.
- These tacos are best served fresh to keep the wonton shells crunchy.
